Project Astral is a custom WotLK 3.3.5a server focused on long-term account-wide progression, custom endgame systems, Mythic raids, Flex raids and modern quality-of-life features while keeping the core feeling of Wrath of the Lich King. The project is currently being prepared for its first Closed Alpha, and I am looking for players who are interested in testing, giving feedback and following development. Project Astral includes several custom systems such as the Astral Tree, Astral Gems, Mythic Raids, Flex Raids, Raid ID Resets, Prestige System, Prestige Store, account-wide Reagent Bank, custom launcher, website, armory, bug reports, Crossfaction support, All Race / All Class, retail-like combo points and more. A major focus of the server is that progression should matter across your whole account. All Astral systems are account-wide, including the Astral Tree, Astral Gems, Prestige progress, Reagent Bank and other related features. Mounts, pets, titles, achievements and riding skills are account-wide as well, so playing alts feels much better and your time investment is never locked to only one character. The main feature of Project Astral is the Astral Tree. It currently has well over 1000 nodes and is designed as a long-term progression system, not something players are supposed to finish in a few days. Players unlock nodes with tokens earned through leveling, prestiging, killing dungeon and raid bosses, and progressing through content. The current focus of the Astral Tree is character power and long-term account growth. Many nodes increase stats and slowly make your account stronger over time, while still keeping gear, class identity and normal progression relevant. There are also many quality-of-life nodes such as AoE Loot, Hearthstone cooldown reduction, reduced fall damage, water walking, water breathing, movement speed, mounted movement speed, flight speed, instant flight, resurrection sickness reduction, profession bonuses, bonus EXP, bonus reputation, bonus honor and the account-wide Reagent Bank. Astral Gems are another major progression system. Players can obtain gems and scrolls while leveling, killing bosses and playing through the game. Gems can contain different class abilities or special effects and can be socketed into gear. These effects can proc during combat without interrupting your normal casts or abilities. Gems can also be upgraded, increasing their proc chance, damage or overall strength. Mythic raids can drop special Mythic Astral Gems, which are stronger and more unique than normal gems. Some may contain boss abilities or stronger spell effects. The idea is that players become stronger over time through Mythic progression, making Mythic content challenging but not impossible forever. Project Astral also includes a working Flex Raid system. Normal raids can scale based on the number of players inside the raid, making progression more accessible for smaller groups without requiring a perfect full roster every time. Mythic Raids are separate from the Flex system. They use fixed 20-player scaling and are meant to be the harder endgame version of raid content. Mythic bosses reward more tokens and are connected to several progression systems, including Mythic Astral Gems and future Mythic gear upgrades. The Raid ID Reset system allows players to spend tokens to reset raid lockouts. Since tokens are also used for other systems, players always have meaningful choices: invest in the Astral Tree, save tokens, reset raids, or spend them in the Prestige Store. The Prestige System gives players another way to earn account progression and tokens. Prestiging keeps leveling relevant even later on and connects directly to the Astral Tree and other systems. The Prestige Store offers useful rewards such as heirlooms, mounts, bags and convenience items without being designed as an overpowered vendor. Project Astral also has a required custom launcher that handles client patches, MPQ updates, addon updates, realmlist setup, server status, news, optional HD patches, cache cleanup and autologin. This helps prevent outdated client files and makes starting the game much smoother. The website includes account registration, news, roadmap, armory, bug reports and server information. Logged-in players can report bugs, upload screenshots and comment on reports, which will be especially important during Closed Alpha. The goal of the first Closed Alpha is not to pretend everything is perfect. The goal is to get real players into the server, test the systems properly, find bugs, check balance and see how everything feels outside of solo testing.
