Description

Repack Overview

This collection allows you to test five unique server cores for Battle for Azeroth (Build 8.3.7.35662). Whether you want a simple "click-to-start" experience or a manual server setup, this archive covers the most popular 8.3.7 projects available.

The Archive Includes:

Core Name Type Target Audience The Difference
Ashamane Core Base / Dev Developers The "Father" of BFA Repacks. This is the original open-source project that most other BFA servers are based on. It is the best choice if you want a "clean," stock experience to script yourself. It requires manual setup (no launcher).
BFA Core Reforged Base / Dev Developers A Learning Project (Midgard). This is a fork of Ashamane intended for educational purposes. It often contains experimental fixes or cleaner code structures for people learning C++, but may be less "game-ready" for a casual player than the others.
BFA Core Standard General Players The "Stock" Repack. This appears to be a compiled version of the standard core, packaged with a launcher for ease of use. It sits in the middle—easier than Ashamane, but less customized than Latin/Covenant.
Latin Core (Black Empire) Custom Fun Heavily Customized. it comes pre-loaded with scripts for the 8.3 N'Zoth invasions or custom "fun-server" features that aren't in the clean cores.
Covenant Repack Custom General Players The "User-Friendly" Choice. Despite the name (which sounds like Shadowlands), this is a BFA repack designed for stability and ease of access. It usually comes pre-configured to avoid the common bugs found in raw source compiles.

Installation & Running the Server

The method to start your server depends on which core you extract from the archive.

Group A: The Launcher Cores

(BFA Core, Latin Core, Covenant Repack) These repacks include a custom launcher tool to simplify the startup process.

  1. Extract the repack.

  2. Run the included Launcher.exe (or similarly named executable).

  3. Use the launcher interface to start the Database, BnetServer, and WorldServer in order.

Group B: The Manual Cores

(BFA Core Reforged & Ashamane Core) These are traditional setups that require manual execution.

  1. Extract the repack.

  2. Run MySQL.bat (found in the server folder) to start the database.

  3. Run bnetserver.exe.

  4. Run worldserver.exe.

Client Setup & Connection

Unlike newer expansions (Shadowlands/Dragonflight), BFA clients from Firestorm and WoWCircle do not require a custom launcher (Arctium) or a HEX-edited executable to connect to localhost. They work out of the box.

  1. Download the Client:

    • You can use either the Mini Client (downloads while playing) or the Full Client (recommended for stability).

  2. Configure the Portal:

    • Go to your game folder -> WTF -> Open Config.wtf.

    • Change the portal setting to:

      SET portal "127.0.0.1"

    • Note: Do not use "localhost" here; BFA strictly uses the IP format 127.0.0.1.

  3. Launch:

    • Run the WoW.exe included with the client.

❓ FAQ & Troubleshooting

Common questions from the community regarding these BFA cores.

Q: Do I need a custom patch or "Arctium" launcher?

  • A: No. For BFA 8.3.7, the standard Firestorm or WoWCircle executables are already patched to accept custom portal connections. You just need to set the realmlist to 127.0.0.1.

Q: What is the GM Level for Admin?

  • A: It varies by core.

    • Try Level 3 first (Standard).

    • If you lack commands, try Level 4 or Level 6 (common in newer Ashamane-based forks).

    • Tip: If the console command .account set gmlevel fails, use a SQL editor (HeidiSQL) to modify the account_access table manually.

Q: I get disconnected immediately after logging in.

  • A: This is usually a config mismatch.

    1. Ensure Config.wtf is set to 127.0.0.1.

    2. Check the server console (bnetserver) for any errors indicating "Build Mismatch". Ensure your client version matches the server build (35662).

Q: Can I mix and match the databases?

  • A: No. Each core (Latin, Midgard, Ashamane) has a unique database structure. Do not try to run the "Ashamane" worldserver with the "Latin Core" database; it will crash instantly.
